Transplant Games... General Houston Celebrates
Houston Celebrates
July 11, 2013

The Local Organizing Committee for the 2014 Transplant Games of America hosted a gala media event to celebrate the official start of the countdown to next year's games.   Members of Team Texas and local fans joined the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority to kick off the final year of planning.

Dr. Robby Robbins, CEO of the Texas Medical Center, Janis Burke, CEO of HCHSA, and Bill Ryan, President & CEO of the Transplant Games of America all spoke of the importance of organ donation and transplantion.    Over 28,000 lives are saved each year through the generous donation of life saving organs and thousands more enjoy better lives through the donation of corneas and tissue.

Spectators signed the official TGA flag, which is destined to visit over 40 states and Puerto Rico in the next year to celebrate the games and garner signatures, both on the flag itself, but also on each state's donor registry list.
